Bangladesh outshines India in RMG exports

Bangladesh and Vietnam proved stronger resilience in textile exports than India in the face of slowing demand, a study shows.
India’s textile and apparel exports to the US market shrank by over 10 percent in 2009 calendar year, much more than exports from Bangladesh, China, Vietnam and Indonesia, according to the study by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Timely ADP implementation, open pit coal mining crucial to achieve higher GDP growth

The International Chamber of Commerce-Bangladesh (ICC-B) has stressed the need for timely implementation of annual development programme (ADP).
“The ADP for FY11 includes 21.2 percent for overall agriculture, 15.78 per cent for power and energy, 15 per cent for communications and 24.2 per cent for human resources. The development priorities of the government is in the right direction. But, all depends on how much resources are available and what percentage of ADP is implemented,” the Editorial of theNews Bulletin of ICCB released Sunday said.
Garment exporters yet to reap benefit from India deal

The country’s garment exporters could not reap benefit in the past two years from the agreement signed with India in 2007 that allowed duty-free export of 8.0 million pieces of readymade garments annually due to non-tariff barriers.
